An unidentified individual launched a hand grenade attack on a house in the Sirisangabo Mawatha area of Dehiwala early this morning. Police report that two children inside the house died as a result of the attack.
A 55-year-old man and his two children, who were in the house, sustained serious injuries in the attack and were admitted to Kalubowila Hospital. Police stated that the two children passed away while receiving treatment.
The deceased were two boys, aged 11 and 17, who were residents of the Dehiwala area. Police confirmed that the injured man was the father of the two children.
No information regarding the motive for the attack or the suspects has been revealed so far. Dehiwala Police are conducting further investigations.
