The majority of the current cabinet members were raised in Buddhist environments and worked with the Maha Sangha in schools, Dhamma schools and village temples, says Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

He added that the President and all those representing the government have been given the responsibility of protecting and nurturing Buddhism by giving priority to Buddhism under the Constitution itself.

Speaking to the media, the Minister stated that the government is ready to not only act in accordance with the relevant article of the Constitution, but also to continue to provide any support required to the temples by standing up for religious activities related to temples through their own life examples.

Nalinda Jayatissa, who has successfully conducted a large number of peraheras across the island in the past year, said.

Stating that the opposition, during the election period, “If this government comes to power, the peraheras will be stopped and the temples will not receive alms,” is still continuing the false propaganda that it carried out today, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said that the government will not be fooled by such baseless stories of the opposition and will continue to pursue the policy of protecting the Buddhist temple and supporting the temples.
