It is reported that CID officials have informed the Attorney General that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has not received an official invitation for his trip to Britain to attend the graduation ceremony held at the University of Wolverhampton in Britain.

This was informed during a meeting held between CID officials and the Attorney General who went to Britain to investigate the former President’s visit to London.

Normally, when an official invitation is sent to a head of state, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. Otherwise, the Sri Lankan Embassy in that country informs the Sri Lankan Embassy abroad, according to CID investigators. However, the investigators have told the Attorney General that no such procedure was followed in relation to Ranil Wickremesinghe’s visit to the University of Wolverhampton.
