Batticaloa Magistrate A. Tharshini today ordered the remand of former State Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan, who is being held under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, until the 4th of next month.

The suspect was produced before the court today (24) through the online system and the Magistrate issued this order at that time.

The Criminal Investigation Department has filed a case against Pillayan and a group in connection with five murders that occurred in several places including the Kalladi area in Batticaloa in 2008, and former State Minister Pillayan has been charged with several charges in that case.
